Medic Diary : Year 4 Week 3

Hello.

I'm now officially a 4th year medical student. It's never easy, but I thank God for all the luck and blessings.

I started my semester 7 rotations with Internal Medicine. Internal Med is a waaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiddddddd (wide) and broad field. From dengue, stroke, heart attack, lung infections, to hormone problems, joints, kidney/urinary tract, cancer etc. Just when I thought Internal Medicine in semester 7 will be the same as what we had back in Sem 6, *drums roll***

In Sem7, throughout the 6 weeks in IM, we are rotating in several departments - Dermatology (Skin), Rehabilitation and Geriatic Medicine (elderly), Radiology (imaging). I'd say that I wasn't very interested in IM until, I'm in these rotations.

My first posting was in dermatology (2 weeks). Well, it was fun in some ways, something new. Towards the end of the second week where I was slowly getting the hang of it, DEEENNNGGG, bye time's up you gotta leave for next posting. (That's how rush our syllabus is. I seriously think that we wasted too much time back in bukit jalil)

Currently in Rehabilitation and Geriatic Medicine. Again, something very new to us. And this is also what prompted me to start blogging today.

Rehabilitation, (or rehab), is a department where we try to restore someone to health or normal life by training and therapy after illness. I first thought I will never liked this posting, but thanks IMU for getting us a superrrr dedicated and inspiring specialist, who twisted my mind. This is always an underrated department. People don't usually see what this department contributed in helping a patient. But I assure you, every single doctor you see in this department, they are really (really) wanting to help. And not just doctors. I have learnt soooooo much from the patients here too.

Today I went into the clinic while Dr N was having a consultation with this 23 years old male. He is of the same age as I do. But he lost his left leg due to a motor vehicle accident last year. I looked at him, and I thought, "omg, he's so young. He lost a leg. Omg, he is same age as me. I couldn't imagine what i'd do if I'm in his place." etc...

But he doesn't seem to be depressed at all. From the consultation, I knew that he's already back working. And I was like, "shit, and I'm here, thinking that life has been so unfair to me."

I need to stop complaining minor things like that.

***
In the ward, all I see were patients with motivations to be back up walking, or trying their very best to live as normal as possible. Patients there, some are recovering from stroke, some from trauma.

One 15 years old girl, she had this rare disease which affected her nerves and caused her to be paralysed waist down. Her bladder and bowel controls were affected too but she never gave up and she is still trying. I looked at her, my heart sank, and I don't know why should I be bothered by all the things I'm facing right now.

Why else would I be complaining?
My life is beautiful, all this while.

2015 Jan -01 Grand Opening

Yoohoooo.

3 weeks into 2015, what have you done? Started to work on ur new year resolution yet? I don't have any resolution. Just gonna do whatever shits and eat whatever things i want. Able to lose weight or not, I leave it Guan Yin Ma. hahahahahahh

Landed safely as a third year medical student. As proud as I'm saying, let me tell you, I really don't know what I've learned lol. Thank God I passed. Eventhough dad wasn't happy with my results, (well, part of me, either), Im still really happy that I passed when the failing rate is as high as 10%. Don't need to spend another year and RM90k repeating second year.

The two days examination ended on 30th Dec, just nice for counting down for the new year, we didnt get to celebrate Christmas, though, We are numb already as we didnt get to celebrate CNY earlier.

This year we had drinking session as well, lol because we've got nothing else to do. Before that i had dinner with the primary school gang, celebrating our Princess Eunice's birthday in advance.

yeap. We placed the cake and candles right in front of her but apparently her eyes are fixed to her phone.

here's when she realized the two cakes' existence.

Thought these white balloons were for decorations, until I saw legs swinging on them. That's when I realized we can be held up by balloons.

bought some nano puzzles from the bazaar and omg i enjoyed doing it. Completed 2 of the ninja's that night (morning) after drinking. And here's my whole set of turtles!

i slept at 5 or 6am in the morning after the drinking sesh, but surprisingly i woke up very early. like 10am. guess my biological clock had fully adapted to my sleep cycle from the crazy previous month.

I was just wandering around the whole day, caught up with some dramas, and searching on where to have our anniversary dinner that night. Im such a terrible person lol, didnt prepare anything for him nor have time to think about where to eat until that day itself.

After going to a few different food blogs and websites, I decided to have a try at Meat & Wine Co in Publika. Because it is near, and considering that we did not make any reservation and it was 1st Jan, just in case the restaurant is full we can still have other options. hahahahha

I told him that we should leave our house at 7.15pm, but im not ready until 7.30pm. #girls hahahahah

The restaurant was surprisingly empty. We were the only customers until we're halfway dining our mains.

The ambiance of the restaurant is so good. It just feels very relaxing. haha! With angmoh waiters providing one of the best services in town.

The menu was very simple. There are only a few selections under each categories. I guess that is what gives the food served here a high standard. Would really love to go back there. Mr Richard went back earlier this week and found the Aglio Olio super spicy. hahahaha!

Nachos as appetizer. Mr Richard loves nachos.
And this nachos is so. damn. nice! I love the nachos itself, and then the sauce was so dayumss..ahhhh i miss it now..

Mr Richard's lamb shank.
I'm not really a lamb eater but the lamb shank here seems good, according to him.

his shank with him.

I ordered salmon, so predictable. hahahahha! Not bad, but i love the one in Memphis more.

my fish and i.

Some selfies that night.

Oops, I'm now back from Vietnam and Japan and completed the first module in Semester 5. My life seems free for the next one month with traditional Chinese Medicine. So I'll try to blog about my trip(s)? Hopefully can jadi lah. HAHAHA!

ciaoss ;)

i'm not waking up yet September is ending.

HEY THERE!
omg. i can't believe another month has just passed by like this. September is ending soon and i haven't written any shit here.

It's not that i have got nth to share. I was too busy to share T_T

This month, yea, started with a continuation of Elective attachment at Sime Darby Medical Centra Ara Damansara. the posting has ended and i am back to class for 2 weeks now. Just submitted the report on Thursday, which i crapped all the way from introduction to the reference.

I have learnt so much from the posting. Compared to my other friends who were so excited to go to different surgery departments, i chose to stay with medical doctor or consultants. And i am a very lucky girl to have gotten Dr Liew as my teacher for 3 whole weeks. Revised 85% of my CVS.

You probably know my style when i've got too much to talk about. Because they say picture speaks a thousang words. Well let them be.

2014-09-13, Saturday
It was a beautiful Saturday morning with heavy rain pouring.
I was supposed to be in my bed until maybe 12pm because it's my off day mannnn.
But me, with so much of Pegasus spirit, chose to contribute a little bit for my house this year. Next year my butt was so bad that i had to pull out from so many events but this year, thank God. butt pain not here now.
At least i've got to join Track and Field this year.

The Pegasus TnF Team 2014!

Yeap as i said, it was raining damn heavily before i left home to IMU. in my heart there's a small part wishing that it would be postponed because really, i am not ready at all. The rain didnt stop until we all arrived at UKM. It was still raining and we started the competitions anyhow.
That's how we all rock.

It was crazy. My first event was 400m individual. It killed me straight - got 4th place.
Two minutes after that, when my legs are totally not recovered with all the anaerobic respiration, I'm back on the track again! 4x100m. All in my mind was, please kill me now. LOL
I was the first runner. Ran all my shit out because after that i had at least 30minutes rest till my next event. I just sprinttttt although i am really bad at sprinting. We were at 3rd at the first passing, 2nd at the second passing, and when we are having such a beautiful chance to at least get a medal home... our last runner failed us. She is a reserve actually. Argh omg, i wanted to cry. We got 5th for that. Much heart broken but... it's okay.

Here's the 4x100m runners this year. Cheers!

About 30minutes rest which is like omg so goooooooooood best feeling of the day. i didnt feel like wanna go back on to the track anymore but..lol. I had to.
4x400m. First runner again. I really dislike being the first runner in relay or taking part in an individual event. Because i have problem getting my ass up always. I feel dizzy when i had to got up from the ready-set pose. There wasted abt 2seconds.
I gotta admit i was bad this time. 4th during my passing, then 3rd, and we maintained to be at 3rd place until the last 10metres, Cut by Phoenix. OMG. Seriously, kill me already. LOL
we were so closeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

From the cheer to runners & Volunteer
Sometimes i really dislike my smile with the gums. but uhh well.

Got 6th place overall, which is last, but lalalla, we are still the loudest!
Go White!

2014-09-16 (Tuesday)
Malaysia Day! Public holiday! Finally get to date my dear Ai Dee before she flew off to UK during that weekend. It was just two of us, but the session was fine. Still some quality time that i needed.

We went to the Breadfruits located in Desa Sri Hartamas.
Waited for 40minutes (yes, we waited), for this brunch pasta.
It was fine. okay la. Not that impressive if it's not for the 7-minute-boiled-egg on top.

Headed to tea session afterwards at B.A.D Cafe by Wood n Steel. We didn't know but actually BAD was just within walking distance with Breadfruits. It is on the row facing the main road,  but it's just near KFC, which is opposite to Breadfruits.

The environment was really good. It was quite quiet that day, and we enjoyed our time there. The baristas are also very friendly and helpful. Would love to come back again.

Their brownie is gooooooood.

The #Selfie session with her :D

Another farewell session at night, this time for Adeline. The girl i have known for more than 17 years. She is also flying over to UK real soon. (already flew off now lol)

It's really difficult to meet her because she never replied in the group. hahahahah. So we simply decided to go to Sukiya cz it's like one of the easiest options.

At first they gave us 2 separate tables. But halfway through we weren't happy with that cause we can't talk! hahahahha. So we decided to cramp all in 1 table, which is still fineeee

beautiful iPhone 5s punya camera

Yeapppp all in PSG jersey! except Justin because Huaini is wearing his. lol. You know why, because we ambitious people got S size for everyone and it's tight. So tight for me look at my tummy bulging out. Tak boleh laaaa omg. Need to work out moreeee

After dinner Eunice went home because she needs to be up early to work the next day. It was arnd 1030 so we decided to go for a second round at Adeline's house. Watched the HK drama <Line Walker> (OMG, do you watch that? Lam Foong & She xi Man!!!), played lami, and played around with Adeline's camera and all. Her stuffs all so canggih. Too bad i no money to buy all that :( I want that camera. So nice.
Seeeeeeeeeee. no need edit one. hahahaha

Was craving for some waffles and so babe accompanied me to Brewmen.
Met Sara there. haha thought she has stopped working already as her semester has started.

Everyone said S'more-ffle is good, but err marshmallow is not my thing really.
Go for Nutella banana instead ;)
Still i think standing theory one nicer. hahahah! bacon. yumsss

Guys at mamak.

Have been busying with Cheerleading training 3 days a week. And here's what we do when we don't have enough stunt group to train on.

The flyers :D aka humans who are to be thrown

omnomnomnomnom

Also i've got 2 missed call last Tuesday when i was in class. Afterwards my Cello tutor called me and told me that my exam result is finally out. OMG. Finally. Although it is not very good, but i passed la. Gotta do better next time!
I was so nervous during the exam day. I felt so hot and i was sweating inside the room. I know my scales are all GG. I even dropped my car key there LOL...Luckily, luckily the pieces are still okay, got merit for first two pieces :D

nothing to do with this selfie. Just that it was taken on the same day. HAHAHA!

Wednesday! It's Adeline's flying day. Couldn't make it at first but bcz she didn't get her visa on time so her flight was postponed. And then our cheer practice was also cancelled on that day, so yeah get to send her off at the airport.

It was so jam bcz there's a lorry terbalik on the highway and blocked 2.5 lanes. I guessed someone died. God bless his soul. 3km  - 40minutes.

Tried to look for her at the airport because plc didn't tell her that we're coming. HAHAH! then when we tried to call her phone it was out of service LOLOL. Thought she's already in the plane or what. HAHAHA! Thank god. Found her while we're looking around.

Limin's height doesnt fit into this photo, clearly. duhhh hahahha

Went out for dinner & shopping with family on Saturday night. A simply ootd with stupid face idk how. LOL

This dog damn cuteeeeeeeeeeee marking so naiseeeeeee and i look like a freaking maidddddd don't I LOL

August Part II -

August 2014 has been a pretty busy yet fun month for me. Or i should put it in this way, there was too much 'ons'. the DPC gang has reunited, i mean, yeah, almost everyone was here. Ritchie was here while waiting to go for his exchange programme in Seoul (which he has departed last week), JZ has graduated and will be here forever and ever. The only one missing out is..Eric.

From BBQ to dinner, movies, karaoke, drinking sessions (a must lol), badminton everyday, Broga hill, Ipoh and clubs etc etc. They were all in the whatsapp group, and when someone said something, there'll be 'ONS'. hahahahha.

The week after Broga Hill was quite a bore, badminton is all we had. We planned to go Genting but the weather was quite bad at night that week, sky pouring every night. Therefore Genting plan is a no-go as our parents were concerned about our safety on the road. So oh wells, we changed our plan to go clubbing because i needed something to be on to comfort my soul after my one-week-GP-posting.

So we headed to PLAY club at the Roof. as it was quite a last minute plan, no doubt we didn't manage to get any table in advance. We went there as early as 11pm to queue. I called Rou Zyn up bcz she always tells me that she haven't been to Play before. And yeap she's up for it too. I hope she didn't get too bored that night hahahahha.

That was my first time to been to club so early. No one was high in the club. we just stood at around our table and drink. And the people beside us started to get high and talked to JC. Hahahahaha. JC said he's going there to fish but mana tau ppl fish him back ;) So that night we made friends with a gang of lawyer. They talk so much. Lol.

the ladies

and gentlemen

Didn't do much, well you have got nothing much to do in a club anyways. Just drink, raise your hands, shake your body, jump and scream lol. We girls spent some time at the dance floor then on the stage. HAHA. They were reluctant to go up to the stage when i asked but we made it finally. hahaha.

Okay, so there's always some desperate guys in the club. Just learn how to get rid of it.

The Y.W.F Cheryl hahaha

RZ's #ootn with Richard tan punya sneakers
A girl's pain to go to the club on a 4inches heels. RZ's heels were 5-inches tall. She fell when we were going down from the stage bcz she mis-stepped it again. Same thing happened while she was in Zouk. She said she's hopeless on her heels when William is not around hahahah!

Do i look like a play girl yet. pfft HAHAHA

Started our Electives this week. Its very interesting. Although i'm just gonna shadow Dr Liew, a consultant cardiologist in ADMC for this three weeks.
Nothing much everyday, most of my friends opt to go for surgeons, so they are looking at surgeries everyday. I chose not to because we don't know anything about surgery yet. All we can do is stand beside (or maybe far away) to observe. I have seen 5 surgeries in 2 days during the attachment i did in A-levels and i was like 'okayyy.....' A consultant doctor is where i can learn the most for now, i guess.

About my doctor. He is a fine doctor but he eats damn crazy fast. I feel super stressed to eat with him. Lunch on the first day he finishes his subway in 3mins. 2nd day - It was already 1.30pm and we needed to be back by 2pm. He decided to drive out. and i was like okay....Went to this cafe at Oasis, ordered nasi lemak. wtf he finished his nasi lemak in 3mins again. So i tried to speed up... max speed is still 5mins/meal. After that i always feel anorexic when i see him.

Very happy me on third day. Bcz Dr told me he's not going to have lunch with me that day. So i sent this snapchat to RZ
A bad news come after 10mins. His colleague/friend couldn't make it to the lunch. So omg, i had lunch with him again. LOL this time i ate 3 pieces of chee cheong fun only. because eventho im hungry, i don't feel like eating in front of him. lols.

FRIDAY OFF DAY.
someone has finally enrolled into Taylor's university on Thursday. He missed all the orientation events and also a few classes.
On friday i dropped him at uni then i went to Sunway for a shopping spreeeeee. too stressed up!

I like this bf's jeans alot. but my legs aren't that long to handle this pair of jeans nicely. I guess if i buy them home, i will have to wear heels to carry this jeans. That's why im tip toeing while taking this pic hahhaha! Anyways i didn't get them. They costs RM200 and I can't even wear it to uni. So yeah. Let it go.

That selfie in fitting room because i've got too much time to spend. I saw alot of stuffs that i wanted to buy but after i think twice, i think i don't need them. (so proud of my self-control)

At around 4.30pm i left to pick up Richard from his first day of school. We were both hungry so he said let's go A Pie Thing.

I haven't been to this pie place before and so, i'm kind of excited, but at the same time, i'm scared because im not really a pie-lover.

The two greedy miao ordered two pies to dine in.
- Chicken Mushroom
- Creamy Spinach
both are fine. with the mash we topped up :)

well they look weird. but itsokay.
#boobs

Back home from the Pie Thing.
Was asked to go for a swim at Breezeway the new condominium in dpc. Infinity pool is always yums. And the pool water is still too clean. HAHAHA

Saviour for the week.

Saturday- 30th August.
Babe's cousin, David's wedding day.

After the church wedding, at the lunch place.
Luckily i do not have too many Christian friends, (no offense, just that i'm not used to the ceremonies)

After lunch we headed home to pack our stuff, and departed again to JW Marriott Hotel KL, for the wedding dinner later.

From the WOW Photobooth outside the dinner hall. It was FOC and damn, look so pretty in the photos! auto-retouch omg. HAHAHA

super class

OOTDs

CINA BABY. muahahahhahaha
Salam Satu Malaysia!
